Tabline

The Guitar Pro tab player that opens your file and plays it

You downloaded a tab and your phone had nothing to open it with. Tabline opens it, draws it as real notation and tablature, and plays it back with a full General MIDI sound bank.

Tabline showing Romanza as standard notation above tablature, with the current bar highlighted.
Notation and tablature together, with the bar you are hearing marked.

What it does

Opens what a tab editor saved

Guitar Pro 3 through Guitar Pro 8, plus MusicXML and compressed .mxl — which makes it a MusicXML player and a MusicXML viewer in the same app. Open straight from Downloads, WhatsApp, Drive or Files with Open with → Tabline.

Reads like music, not like a text file

Standard notation above tablature, or tab on its own. A still page: the music stays put and the bar you are playing lights up. Multi-track scores let you pick the part you are playing.

Plays every bar

Real instrument sounds rather than beeps, a cursor that moves with the music, count-in and a metronome. Playback is free — it is the whole point of a tab player.

Practice tools, one-time unlock

Tabline Pro adds the fretboard, the speed trainer, A–B looping and a per-track mixer. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

Offline, and nothing leaves the phone

Tabline has no upload path in it at all: the app contains no HTTP client, so a score you open cannot be sent anywhere. No account, no sign-in, no ads. It works on a train. What the app does send is analytics and crash reports, and purchases go through Google Play — that page names all of it.

What it is not

Open the file you already have

Free to download; the practice tools are a one-time unlock inside.
